Reliable Power (ABN: ***********) has a General Electrical Warranty policy concerning works not involving solar (E.g. light and power) and another more detailed policy that covers Solar PV or Battery Systems that satisfied the requirements of the CEC Solar Retailer Code of Conduct. Neither of these policies should exclude you from any of your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
General Electrical Works
Under the consumer guarantee, when you buy something or receive a service, it should work. If it doesn’t, you have the right to ask for a repair, replacement or refund. If the fault is due to incorrect installation practices, we will endeavour to fix the fault or obtain the services of another competent person to fix the fault. If that is out of the question a refund for the installation should be offered.
Over time, most electrical products deteriorate. Please maintain them and treat them appropriately to enable us to assist you with a manufacturer warranty claim. If you provided the item for installation, you bear responsibility for the repair or replacement, including any associated costs.
If the item we provided has a fault due to manufacture that has become evident during their warranty period, we will provide reasonable assistance to you in dealing with the manufacturer or wholesaler involved. Depending upon the item, you may be required to send it back to them. Different manufacturers have different procedures and costs involved. Some pay for the item to be removed and re-installed, while others require you to bear the costs involved.
Solar Retailer Code of Conduct Guarantee
If the solar or battery installation was completed while we were signatories of the Solar Retailer Code of Conduct, we guarantee:
(a) the operation and performance of the System; and
(b) our workmanship, and the workmanship of our contractors, in installing the System,
will be free from fault or defect for a period of 5 years commencing on the date the System is installed (Guarantee Period), and we will repair any such defect notified to us within the Guarantee Period, including by replacing all or part of the System where necessary, within a reasonable timeframe at no cost to you.
The aforementioned guarantee will not apply where:
(c) the fault or defect is not notified to us within the Guarantee Period; or
(d) the fault or defect is a result of:
(i) something beyond human control that occurred after installation, e.g., extreme weather;
(ii) something done by you or someone else; or
(iii) the System being maintained other than in accordance with the Maintenance Documents; or
(iv) the System being abused, misused, neglected or damaged after installation;
(v) the System being repaired, modified, reinstalled or repositioned by anyone other than a service technician approved by us in writing.
The guarantee is additional to any other guarantee or warranty you may have:
(e) from the manufacturer of the System; or
(f) under any applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law.
Although these other guarantees and warranties may not cover labour costs, travel costs and delivery costs arising from a claim under these other guarantees and warranties. We will notify you if this is the case, and tell you the costs payable. The costs will be payable in advance.
We will provide reasonable assistance to you in making any guarantee or warranty claim against the manufacturer of the System during the Guarantee Period, this includes liaison with the manufacturer.
